“The Shining” Project

For my Senior Capstone, I chose to recreate a scene from The Shining and create a piece of furniture that would tell a story; specifically to represent the story of the twins and the characters who shine. I included a light blue silk fabric, similar to the twins’ dresses, but covered it with black rose lace to represent their death. The deeper blue represents the other characters who shine--as I found they are heavily represented with blue colors throughout the film. The red beading underneath is to represent the blood and death that seems to haunt these characters. Additionally, I built a freestanding backdrop from a 4x6’ piece of plywood, covered it in wallpaper, and added crown molding recreate the hallway from The Shining as best as possible.
